Award: Supply Chain Excellence Awards - UK

Award Name: The Clean Transport Award

Company: DHL Supply Chain

DHL Supply Chain is proud of its ongoing work alongside its partner Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to cut carbon emissions in the supply chain.

With a reduction of nearly 12,500 tonnes of CO2e per year to be delivered, the companies believe this is just the start of their shared journey to achieve carbon net zero emissions by 2039.

Both DHL and JLR are focused on short- and long-term sustainability strategies, with the objective of achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2039.

In the core fleet that DHL uses to support JLR and its supply chain, it has introduced the use of electric vehicles manufactured by Terberg and Volvo, as well as Scania units which are fuelled by compressed natural gas (CNG).

This fuel produces 45% fewer hydrocarbons than some other fuel types and emits 80% less carbon monoxide.

In addition to the UK core fleet, DHL has delivered an increase in multi-modal solutions from Europe to the UK with c.

12% 200 routes being delivered by rail, providing a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

The companies have a short- to medium-term fleet strategy of being diesel-free by the end of Q2 2024.
