South American Atlantic Service

Over a period of 12 years from 2011 to present, Seafast has delivered uninterrupted shipping services to and from the Falkland Islands.

This is contracted to continue at least until the end of 2026.

The main feature of the innovation has been that of circumnavigating regional political tensions which had caused disruption to international shipping arrangements directly due to the threat of retaliation by Argentina to any Shipping Companies identified as offering services to or from the Falkland Islands.

To achieve this stability and continuity of shipping services it was vital for Seafast to create a robust structure within which the selected shipping companies considered it safe to engage.

It has been necessary for Seafast to continually re-innovate the structure, and in so doing, focus upon the associated costs, to a point that ongoing government subsidy is no longer required.

The combination of these two core achievements of uninterrupted service, and stand-alone profitability, has been achieved since early 2018, under conditions which are secured until the end 2026.

The innovation benefits its customer by providing the Falkland Islands community with a reliable and cost-effective import and export solution, to sustain and support the island's population.
